BKL Baukran Logistik’s crane fleet features more than 500 construction cranes, five of which are currently active at a new residential development in Hannover, Germany. The cranes are all Potain tower cranes, chosen in part for their ease of assembly and Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CCS).

“We have been working with Potain cranes for almost 20 years, so we know from experience how reliable and efficient these machines are," says BKL Managing Director Jörg Hegestweiler. "The Potain MDT tower crane range helps our team and our customers to get the job done effectively. Above all, Potain cranes are very user-friendly during assembly, which is quick and straightforward thanks to the CCS crane control system."

    Efficiency With Potain Tower Cranes

The five Potain tower cranes at the residential development include two MDT 189 cranes, one MDT 219, one MDT 248, and one MDT 178. The compact dimensions of MDT tower cranes, which boast a 1.6-metre (5.25-foot) tower system, are essential for the space-constrained Hannover jobsite. Both the MDT 189 and MDT 219 feature a maximum capacity of 8 tonnes (8.8 U.S. tons) and boom lengths of 60 and 65 metres (196.9 and 213.3 feet), respectively. And when combined with the efficiency gains of Potain’s CSS, the cranes help keep operating costs low while more than meeting lifting performance requirements.

    More On CCS

The Manitowoc CCS features an electronic display that shows all kinds of information about the crane configuration and loads on the crane’s in-cab display. Just a few key details include the boom angle, boom length, load radius, boom tip height, maximum permissible load, and actual load to improve efficiency on the jobsite.
